As part of the development of the Nine Mile Creek water trail, NMCCC has designed and built several iterations of a dock whose primary purpose is for convenient and safe put-ins and take-outs of paddling draft. We present this design to use as a template, while keeping in mind that any dock build must be customized for a site to maximize safety. The following features were considered:

  • Best alignment to dominant flow path to hold boats as still as possible
  • Minimal elevation change to get into a boat for easy ingress/egress
  • Minimal profile exposed to flow, to reduce garbage build-up
  • Keep build-up of algae and mud to a minimum
  • Convenient and simple to build, with minimal stream bank disturbance
  • Secure against high-water events and theft/damage
